Default possible driver problem??

I just reformatted my computer and freshly installed windows, and the catalyst control center with 5.6 driver. when i would play a game, like HL2 or Farcry, after a few minutes i would get an alert that said my card was operating at unsafe temps. so i modified the dynamic fan control with ATItool. that took care of the temps mostly, but i kept getting artifacts if i put AA or AF on, or if i tried to overclock with ATItool.

my zalman VF700-CU just came in the mail, so i spent a long time making sure i put it on right, and modifying the bracket so it would fit on my card, etc. (i will make a thread on this)

now my temps are quite low, 42 idle and about 60-62+ load. i still get artifacts if i try to play HL2 with AA or AF, even if they aren't turned up all the way.

can anyone help me??

thanks

Need to know which card you are using--not in your system specs--but in general sounds like a hardware problem--I hope you properly protected your card from static discharge while handling it--it's a killer. I doubt artifacts are driver related--it's more likely data corruption which heat accerbates...just guessing,
