Thumbs up

Thanks for the link. I was having trouble finding the proper bios. Should it matter that I have a 128mb card with the flash being for a 256mb XT card?
Reps to you...

Yes i believe it does matter if you have a bios for a 256mb card when your card only has 128mb there could very well be conflicts so it is best to try and find a bios for a 128mb xt card.

That's unforyunate. I did find 3 entries from 2 different manufacturers for a 128mb version, GeCube and Visiontek. How would these BIOS' differ from my ATI brand card BIOS?

I know, I am a complete Noob!

Therotically they should be compatable since the core and the hardware on the gfx board should be the same for the different companies since it is just being advertised/sold differently, but dont take my word on this info, because i am not sure if it is true or not. and dont worry abount sounding like a noob we all have been there before.

Well, I will back-up my bios and then try one of the other brands to flash to XT... WHat's the worst that could happen? I would end up with a 6800 GT?

backup your bios, the worst that could happen is it'll fail then you have to apply your backed-up bios

just watch the heat on it if it is successful

Yes the idea to back up the original bios is very important so if something does go wrong with the new bios you can flash back to the original easily, and good luck with the flash on the card if you do it

Thumbs up

Yeah, I am waiting for my Mobo/3200 Venice/PSU upgrade before I flash it. I have some cooling and psu issues to work out before I pump any more heat into the gpu. Thanks for all the input. Already rep'd you for the efforts. Cheers
