Default Yet another problem for you guys to solve...

I reinstalled 2000pro because XP was giving me problems with my video..Well now it is happening in 2000pro....
I installed my video drivers and in the part to switch from AGP off 4x or 8x...It defaults to off...I set it to 8x and then restart the machine and it goes back to off....Any ideas...
Thanks in advance
Strider

couple of things, update the bios, update your graphics card drivers, and do you have the option to put it on auto for the apg setting?

Uhhhh....... just update the drivers, that will solve your problems....basically, when you update windows for instance, your drivers for your graphics card fall outta date....well its a lot more complicated than that but, well you will get it...just download them..

have you installed DIRECT X 9.0c before your driver update.

If you are downloading the ATI version you need to have this before you download the file or you will get some screwy things going on

go to the ATI site and select DRIVERS AND SOFTWARE - WINDOWS 2000 - ALL IN WONDER - ATI MEDIA CENTER 9.08 and download and install this.

cheers

Well I took everything to do with ATI off of my machine and then downloaded Direct X 9c.
Installed direct X 9c and restarted and installed the updated drivers...It still default to off and will not stay at 8x AGP...

Maybe a setting in your motherboard's BIOS is causing this, Im not sure as I an PCIe and have been for a while. Went straight from PCI to PCIe, never owned an AGP machine
