Default Bad video card?

I'm not sure what is happening. Out of the blue I started noticing faint horizontal lines on the monitor. When I loaded Battlefield, that uses a lower resolution, the lines became much worse to where I could barely see the image. I stopped the game and the lines where again barely visible. Lowering the resolution of the desktop made them worse again. I hadn't changed any drivers recently. I tried loading the new ATI 8.5 drivers (removing the old with drivercleaner.net) but this did not help. Reverting back to older drivers did not help either. Is this video card related and not driver related?

It could be video card related, or it could be your monitor. Try using another monitor if you have one available.

If you have overclocked you video card at all, reset it to stock settings.

However this sounds like it is a monitor issue.

Kinda looks like what happened to my Radeon 8500 when I ran it without a fan for 1 year straight

It looked somewhat like that with the lines covering about 40-50% of the screen. I switched the monitor and it cured the problem. Bought a 22" LG last night
