Default Radeon HD 4870 on Linux question

I might switch back to the Red Team as they are currently ***pwning nVidia and the Radeon HD 4870 is supposed to be *BETTER* than the 9800GTX i hear? and similar to the GTX 260?

that is *wow*...

my gaming computer (not sig, sig is a research semi-supercomputer) has an outdated 7600GT in it (before i had a X700 Pro). I game in Linux using WinE. I have played newer games and I am good at getting them to work so that is not a concern.

However all my experiences with ATi linux drivers left me going insane and skipping school to get my comp working again :swear ing:

i heard drivers for linux are recently much better from ATi...this true? are they as good as the nVidia Linux drivers?
