Default Will new drivers fix the 4850 fan issue?

Hi I just ordered a visiontek 4850. Anyways I see everywhere that they run really hot because of the fan speed is set to 22% or somthing. Will a update driver from ATI fix this problem? Or is it a issue with the card itself. And yes I will be using the fan fix for the time being.

Chris,

The drivers (So far) do not fix the fan issue (maybe in the future)... But it is easily solved using an edited CCC Profile. Instructions found here .

I am running 700/1100 with a max of 63c (45% fan speed). Stock was 625/933 with a max temp in the upper 70s....

Also I had better luck with the CCC 8.7 beta (with drivers) got it here .

If we can do it now that means its not hardware problem so when they support HD4800s in AMD/ATi website they will have fan fix too.

why have they left it so late to release fan controllers ? i'm sure they should have at least thought that some people would want to change the fan speed lol

but i guess ati always have problems with drivers

I am already using the fan speed fix. But I just wanted to know if a driver could/would fix the issue for sure.

Well it is software based problem so it is possible for a driver to fix it... Just as of the 8.7beta the drivers have not yet fixed it. (I have not tested the official release of 8.7 yet) If ATI does not fix the issue then I am guessing a Modded Driver might pick it up to fix it... Like the DNA ATi drivers.
