My system is in my sig... today i went out and bought a TT 430w power supply and a brand new ati radeon hd4650.. I come home, install the card, plug in the vga cable (to the card) and turn it on. Loads my desktop (8 bit color 640 x 480) then I insert the disk, and installed the drivers. The card was working, and then I rebooted.
__________________After the windows logo and loading bar, the screen goes blank, and my monitor says "no signal" So I spent probably 8 hours pulling out my card, putting my old one back in, reinstalling drivers, uninstalling, switching cards, blah blah.. till I gave up and reformatted my computer HOPING that would fix the issue. Right now I am on a FRESH install of windows xp sp3. I only have the ati radeon hd 4650 driver installed, and my mobos ethernet driver. Right now I am in vga mode, because I can load that just fine but when I try to load normally the screen goes black. The video card does work, and Im pretty sure this is some sort of whack driver issue. Has anyone ever had this problem, and what is the solution?

After installing kaspersky, winrar, and steam then rebooting, it isnt working again.
__________________This is some bull**** really.. haha Im on a never ending emotional rollercoaster thats kickin my ass When it was working, my computer said I only had 1 monitor under display properties which was "Plug and play monitor" Now its not working, and when booted into VGA mode its telling me I have multiple monitors, which are "Plug and play monitor" and "Default Monitor" Is this because I have not installed my gforce (onboard vga drivers) and disabled them and its still trying to use my onboard?

Oh yea, one more thing.. I cant install my onboard drivers either because when I try to it says it cannot detect the hardware and closes the setup wizard. This is because my ATI card is in..
__________________So if I take my card out, and then use the onboard video to install the drivers for itself, then once their installed I disable them, shutdown, put card back in, and reboot, ill be back at a standpoint again with it not working. Thats what I've been dealing with all day and honestly I'm so confused and tired that I'm gonna go to sleep now. lol And for some reason if I leave my ATI card in and just reconnect the VGA cable to my mobo to try and use the onboard i get nothing on the screen..

Take the card back and get a new one. It sounds defective.

try it on another pc if possible... or rma.
sounds like more of a hardware issue than driver one. personally, ive had no problems with any ati cards i've owned. (only 4 lol) never tried a nvidia so cant compare, maybe i've just been lucky
