ATI's drivers are great, its Nvidia's drivers (and molten lava heat output) that made me go to ATI after many years as a Niv fanboy.

No, I have never once had a driver issue with any of the ATI cards I've owned.

I have owned a lot of Nvidia cards and a lot of ATI cards and honestly I prefer the interface of CCC better than nvidia's.

I don't know how or why this rumor got started but I'll tell you this. I have never been more happy with a video card than I am with my 4890.

EDIT: I also want to say that we have run into way more problems at the repair shop I work at with various Nvidia drivers (gpu, nforce, etc.) than with ATI products (admittedly just gpu).
Especially their nforce Ethernet drivers, so many times had those not work properly, need to be reinstalled, etc.

I've had better performance with Win7 than with XP. My 4870 folds without error for weeks on Win7, but can't seem to make it through a WU in XP, even with all the driver swappng/cleaning/reinstaling mumbo-jumbo that I tried.

CCC is great, and ive never had 1 single driver problem, crash, etc been a Proud ATI user for over a year. So the ATI bad drivers are a myth, possibly bad prior to the 4xxx series, but not since then!

The CCC back with the R420 series was utterly HORRIBLE. It added easily a full minute to my bootup sequence just starting up the CCC. Since then, it has gotten significantly better. I have a 4890 in another machine and honestly, they are not bad anymore compared to what they used to be.

It used to be bloated, slow and unstable, but it really isn't anymore.

The dedicated card drivers are great. Ive had a lot of issues with nvidia chipsets, and a few issues with ATI ones in the past.

ATI had some problems with drivers years ago - and even then it basically amounted to small numbers of people making a mountain out of a molehill.

Nowadays they're just as good as Nvidia's drivers.
