Default Low FurMark Score - 4870 1GB

I have a pair of 4890's on the way to replace this card anyway, but I just ran the FurMark benchmark for the first time and scored 4100 or so. According to the FurMark Comparitive Table, the average score for a 4870 is 6200. What gives? Catalyst 9.7 by the way.

Furmark is hazardous for ATI cards, it makes the VRMs reach crazy temps. Therefore ATI has throttles the GPU whenever it detects furmark is running. If you're really desperate to see your card's true performance in furmark (and I don't recommend doing this) rename the furmark exe to something else. The protection is there for a reason, don't blame me if you fry your 4870.

Oh wow, ok. Thanks for letting me know. I won't risk it. I had no idea. I plan to overclock my 4890's and was going to use it for stress testing. Can you recommend a good alternative? Maybe ATI tool?

Yeah, ATI tool does the job. After that it's always a good idea to stress with a few loops of crysis.
