Default Crossfire power question.

Whenever newegg finally gets me my motherboard. (Seems to be lost in transit to korea) I'm gonna crossfire my 4870 512mb editions, but I have a question I have a 650watt Antec truepower trio, but theres only 2x pci-e cables so if I run one to each card and then use the converters and molex in the 2nd slot of each card would it have any problems? Or any performance loss?

I got this power supply.

You'd be putting extra stress on your power supply. My believe has always been if the power supply isn't built with X number of connectors, molex connectors will just make matters worse. I've heard stories of people who use molex connectors getting fires, shorting out their cards or powers supplies, etc. Mind you, that probably doesn't happen often, but it's still not a great idea, in my honest opinion.

In terms of power, 650W might not be enough at full load. According to this, you card is going to use roughly 283W at full load, and that's for just one of them. (Those things are normally off by a bit.) If your PSU can handle it, I'm sure it won't last you ver long. High stress on power supplies causes them to go bad faster.

But you have to take into consideration the other hardware parts too, at the moment you have hit 566W with the 2 4870's. After looking trough a few pages sorry kid time to buy a new PSU check this out

http://www.hardware.info/en-US/produ..._BX80569Q9450/

it says that your cpu tapp's out at 135 W power consumption then plus that to the 566 watt for the gpu's = 701, and that's not even including your Mobo,DvD,HDD's and of the sorts.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but a word to the wise never take the wattage on the box for face value.
