You must be new to the scene or an nvidia user right? welcome to the red tide

I recommend ATI Tray Tools or Rivatuner....both are great apps with tons of options/settings/etc to play around with

Really you can't go wrong with either of them...if i where to suggest one it would be ATI Tray Tools since it just comes off to me as a little more new user friendly...

Ha we share some nice parts between our rig's don't we....mine is in for RMA's ATM

How are you liking the MSI Mobo? had any problems so far? (I banter a bit sorry)

Overdrive in CCC works just fine and requires no additional software.

What he said. You need to unlock the limit it sets. Usually flashing to the Asus bios fixes this, Asus almost never limits their CCC.

Sorry for the long repetitive post but i was trying to cover a few important things that just popped into my head...

With less than HALF of the feature's compared to both ATI Tray Tools and Rivatuner...which i am sure you are aware of whilst the OP may not know..

IF you successfully overclocked the GPU then what you are seeing is the card going into 2D mode...there are two modes and these are 3D and 2D...2D lowers the clock values of the core/ram and if set to will lower the voltage on the card...this helps to prolong the life of you're card by keeping the heat and high clocks off whilst you are just browsing the web and doing mundane tasks...

When you load up a game or any intensive 3D application the card will go into 3D mode and run you're OC that is set in either CCC/ATITT/Rivatuner...go into ATITT/Rivatuner and setup the OSD(On Screen Display) feature...this will show you're OC/Fan%/Temps on the screen whilst you run you're applications or games so you can keep an eye on you're card to make sure it is running the OC and staying well cooled

You can use Rivatuner OR Ati Tray Tools and change the values of you're 2D and 3D modes

For 2D Mode i have my card set to run at Fanspeed/50% 300Mhz/Core with 300Mhz/Memory AND i have the voltage set to go down quite a bit...one thing i recommend you do depending on you're overclock or underclock is to go and adjust the voltages the same as you would with you're CPU you have to fine tune you're overclock on the GPU as well

Try out ATI Tray Tools and you can setup you're 2D/3D profiles with Fan%/Core/Mem/Volts etc and get a nice & chilly overclock running no problem

Just set down with either ATITT/Rivatuner for an hour or so and you will have the program learned in and out...

Goodluck and if you have any more questions feel free to ask as i'm sure iv dealt with it before

One more thing...i have no idea of how much you actually know so i will go ahead and ask this...are you running the card well within safe temperature's? if you are not 100% sure as to if there safe i recommend you load up a game for around 10mins and post what you are running via reading the OSD while you are playing(Alt-Tabbing or closing the game really quick may give false values)

There was something else but it has escaped my mind...will edit this post if i remember *face palm*

That deserves rep! Can you elaborate on OSD? On screen display? does rivatuner do this?

I don't usually post much info/help in such a large format so sorry if i repeated anything or rambled but you seem very new and i know i had quote a bit of fun the first time when learning CCC and both ATITT an Rivatuner

I guess i never clearly mentioned OSD's abbreviation "On Screen Display"? blah that's typical of me

Both ATITT and Rivatuner sport there own OSD setup and from my brief work with both neither have anything over the other so whichever you use they work about the same

ATM i am only running Rivatuner since im switching gpu's left and right...so this will be Rivatuners OSD on my secondary rig running an Ati 4850

(mentioning this because you're speaking like you're running rivatuner) BTW when you want to use the OSD on rivatuner you need to start RivaTunerStatisticsServer which you will find in the rivatuner start menu entry....after you open that you can configure the color/size/area/font etc of the OSD and of course all of what you want it to show...the great thing about the OSD is it's not limited to you're GPU...you can keep track of ANYTHING...from the exact MB left of GPU memory on you're card to the temps of each core on a quad core cpu

I'm showing my Core/Mem/Shader temps and my HDD temps...and of course all my clocks

OSD is like this *You will need to click the photo three times...once to open it again to open it in fullscreen and again to zoom in on the OSD (Goes to take a screenshot)

Ermm the photo quality on this screenshot is HORRIBLE...damn jpeg

It's definitely an app you should take advantage of though as one of the best safe guards you can setup for you're hardware

If you have anymore questions please feel free to ask away

Awesome thanks for elaborating on that Going to definately use this with my new setup, been using riva on my HTPC (GTS250) and overclocking and stuff is fairly straight forward. I just couldn't monitor my temps as its only single display, normally i have 2 screens and have temp monitors on one and game on another. Thanks for fixing that for me
