Default Catalyst 9.10 still doesn't fix major issues

So, early reviews are that 9.10 didn't really address some of the major bugs with the 5xxx series. Here are the common problems from what I've read:

- System crash/lock when watching fullscreen videos
- Big mouse cursor issue (where randomly, the pointer will get huge unless you restart)
- General crashing--atikmdag message
- Flickering in CCC

Anything else? Is it always this bad early on with new ATi cards? I, for one, am probably never going to buy a newly released card ever again. What's worse is that some people have reported mentioning these issues to a tech on the phone, and they deny knowing about these problems. Sketchy stuff, man...feeling very disappointed in ATi (which I used to view as the golden boy underdog to Nvidia's evil empire). Maybe their success with the 4800 series went to their heads.

It pains me to say that. It's funny because I'm usually the guy who reads about people having issues and thinking, "They're probably just doing something wrong." =/ In my face.

9.10 and 9.11 have not fixed the 1360x768/overscaling issues or re-added the full amount of HDTV tools and resolution management that 9.5 and before had. Samsung TVs are also not detected correctly. However, 9.11 fixes the flickering in CCC.

Ok, maybe someone could possibly help me here, or I might create a new post, but I just upgraded to 9.10 from 9.9 and my test looks kind of blurred slightly, like the ClearType is broken or something. What's odd is the text on the desktop is still pretty clear. It's like my text is getting antialiased, and that isn't exactly good.

EDiT
Whoops, looks like all it took was to recalibrate the ClearType

Depends on your definition of "works"...my card runs games and benchmarks fine, then crashes with videos. =/

I think your issues may not stem from the 5xxx series card; especially the mouse cursor. I highly doubt that has anything to do with your video card or it's drivers. If they are though, have you tried disabling hardware acceleration on the video? It's not really needed with a decent CPU.

Hmm, how do I disable that?

Before the 5770, I had a 4870, which ran beautifully. Now, I'm wondering why I ever left that card. =/ (Power efficiency, CF, DirectX11...sigh).

Look around in the options of your video player, uncheck the box when you find something about hardware acceleration. If it's not checked, throw it on and see what happens, lol.

Ah, I haven't tried offline stuff. I crash when viewing online videos fullscreen, whether it's hulu or IGN Insider videos, etc. Thanks though...
