Default 4870x2 BIOS Flashing

I have a Sapphire 4870x2, and I want to flash it to a different BIOS, but I'm not sure where to start. I want the bios that will probably let my overclock the best, and I heard the ASUS Top ones are good. The problem is I found a lot of information that's old and somewhat confusing for me. Could someone walk me through the steps needed to do this? I also heard that the Top bios won't work for 1.2 versions of my sapphire, so I'm going to make a backup, but how do I know if its 1.2 or not?

Hia LemonSlice, here is how to backup and flash a bios for a 4850 X2. The exact same steps can be used for a 4870 X2. Just be careful and rember to turn off any programs that don't need to be running before you flash.

Well, I had to dig through a LOT of really old forum posts from random places to find the ASUS TOP bios, but when I flashed, it started to artifact as if it was about to die. I was still able to get into windows and get the original bios and flashed the 2 bioses back to the original. Now it works fine, and I feel very lucky... it seems I'm out of choices on a better bios

Anyone successfully do it with a sapphire that could get me a copy of their TOP bios? Mine could be tainted (being optimistic here). Otherwise, are there any other better bios types that I could try?
