Here is an Inquirer update, its lookin like the R600 is gonna be even more Badarse then speculated.

will the r600 be bottlenecked by the cpu as much as the 8800's, i'm guessing it's to early to know... i'm debating on what my next upgrade should be, save up for 8800, c2d, or just get a x2 or dual core opty and save up for this... oh so many choices

Well by the time the R600 is released DX10 will also come with Vista. DX10 is said to completely get rid of bottlenecks by making the processor do a lot less work and making the GPU do most of the intense labor.

If DX10 makes the GPU do most of the work, then I don't understand why you are saying that the bottleneck will become bigger......
