Mines been chugging along fine on my Hiper 580w with just 2x6pin pci/e power plugs a while now (6 weeks? or so). We just added Halo 2 to our library (I know its old, but never had an Xbox) and it plays great; settings maxxed on a 21" LCD 1680/1050 its native res. I don't really bench much but all the demos for recent games have been playing great, except LostPlanet but I know that its software related as others have had same issues on Nvidia cards. Its not perfect but I am happy and at least can CF it later when I can afford it and a better PSU. I am going to get Supreme Commander soon and see how that one goes. Its supposed to push even high end rigs but with my setup I think I should be able to get atleast medium settings at upper resolutions. I always update drivers as released and use DCpro when uninstalling all the old stuff. You can always get an 8800 if you can return it, nothing wrong with those.

Edit: I dual boot with XP pro sp2 andd Vista 32 bit Ultimate, both OS's have had zero issues with this card for me atleast.

So far I am not impressed and cannot reproduce the same results as others with the same hardware.

I am getting tops 8439 3 D Mark06 and my CPU score seems very low..

This is a new build so I am unsure what is the problem--CPU or Mobo ro GFX or Drivers or all of them conspiring to be mediocre...

I will post back if I can resolve the isue--but at this point I would say the 2900XT does not meet my expectations for what a $500 card should be able to do--and that would be break 10K in 3D Mark06 at stock speed.

well AMD/ Ati are having trouble getting the R600 to work properly and i can't wait for the R700 series to come out and yes even the R800 series are coming but read this: http://hardware.gotfrag.com/portal/story/39014/ and go down and look at the AMD plan chart (very interesting).
