I am really cluttering this thread with off topic stuff and I apologize--I will ask Chozart to perform a relocation or whatever.

I have no idea what is going on. If it is a Vista thing or a P35 thing or whatever--but I doubt it has ANYthing to do with the 2900XT--although the scores are low IMO.

How many cores is Windows showing in Task Manager. Your CPU is wack. Or maybe it is some weird setting in the BIOS.
I think I remember seeing somewhere that said you can make it show as 1 core so as to make your benchmarks show higher than they should?...though that doesn't seem to make any sense

I'm going to try oc'ing the card while leaving CPU as stock, as I can't seem to figure out a stable oc for that yet.

Oh eah I have finally come to the dread realization that the CPU is only running one core.

Why I do nto know. It only shows one core in Task Manager...just one graph when I know there should be 4...

It's pretty sad and i am hoping tht it is a setting somewhere because otherwise it means I was sold a POS Q.

Just did a test at CPU-Stock GPU-800/1000 and got 9948 3DMark06. (Number 2 ranked with similar systems )

So I guess most of the 8000 points that you got came from the GPU. That's a good sign.

As for the weird BIOS setting, that is a mystery.

Btw, if any 8800 users are reading...what are min/max/avg temps in say, 1 test of 3DMark06?
Here were my temps in the previous test.

Hi, new in here.
Can I ask any X2900XT owners about game performance? I mean can it run smoothly that's all at extreme high resolution and with max AA. I mean I'm going to get one of X2900XT too.

Cheers.

Yeah, IMO game performance is better in XP than Vista, but with the 7.5 drivers, not the 7.6.

All my games run smoothly, and hopefully performance will continue to increase with every driver release.

Good to hear!

I noticed that benchmarking in Vista was bringing down my score a fair amount...

My experience with Vista was that any frame rate drop basically was unnoticable. But, what was noticable was that the games did run smoother with less low-drop-out frame rate periods during action in some games. This is on a X1900XTX board, I should have my HD2900XT 1Gb in next week. I'm also running the 64-bit Vista, which I think has the biggest impact on games running smoother. I'm loving 64-bits, flat out loving it. Especially with the rock solid ATI drivers. I'm also running 64-bit Vista on a laptop with an nVidia 7950GTX, which is absolutly pathetic for stability. Everytime the laptop wakes up from sleep mode, it's a crap shoot for what resolution the screen will be in. That and texture problems in many games with the GTX. That experience is why I'm going with the HD2900XT for DX10. I still don't understand why ATI get's a lot of flak for "bad drivers" when the current releases are as solid as they are.

Cyberdruid, on my QX6600 chip, I had to update the BIOS on my Asus board to see all the cores. Check for an update on your MB.
