Uh I think a HD 4850 is more worth it don't you think instead of another HD 2900XT?

If you already have a 2900, the best choice is to just get another one, as they don't sell for crap.

I would rather put it in an old PC, or give it to someone else. And if those two option does work then, it'll be my antique collection lol.

This may have already been asked in here but I searched the thread and didn't see it.

Can you run a 1GB 2900XT and a 512MB 2900XT in crossfire?

Anyone to confirm or deny that?

Oh wait, thinking about it. Isn't one 512bit and one 256bit? I'm not sure if they can go together if that's the case.

They're both 512bit, except the memory size different though. And I don't know whether the 1GB compatible with 512MB or not.

i think its more to do with the core architecture.

as long as the cores are identical, its ok. the 1gb will just dumb down and use 512mb ddr3 instead of 1gb ddr4.

they wont perform as well as 2x 512mbs or 2x1gbs though im pretty sure.

i once Crossfired an X1950 Crossfire Edition with the X1950 XT, which was a lesser card. performance wasnt really that good compared to Crossfire X1950 XTXs.

one card was 512mb ddr4, the other was 256mb ddr3. same concept pretty much.
