Great. Run some tests with and without the slot fan. I'd like to know if they really make a difference.

Yea that's what I'll end up doing. First I'm going to run a stress program for a few minutes with the stock heatsink, then install the new one and run it for the same time (with the AMD GPU clock tool open). I'll collect max and min temps, then install the slot fan.

Anyone thought of trying or have tried the Thermalright VGA Backside Cooler? It seems not necessary or worth it, yet I am looking at it like I want it

I already have the external heatpipe with my DFI board, this would just be another strange looking thing sticking out of my case.Check it out here: https://www.jab-tech.com/Thermalrigh...1-pr-3853.html Edit: After looking at the installation instructions, this really seems pointless on the backside of the card? http://www.thermalright.com/a_page/m...ation_hr11.htm Also, I thought it would mount outside the case, I like the idea of getting the heat outside, not just keeping it in the case.

not pointless
there are definitely things that get hot on the back of the card--really hot. and more stuff sticking out of the case would be awesome...like Eric Cartman's butt ![]() I just pulled 11,112 3DMark06 with a single card at stock speed with a lowly E2180 (at 3400) and wow this card just keeps surpising me. At stock (2000) the E2180/HD 2900 XT pull 8226. I am looking at an EK block pretty feverishly right now...but so far I have not even OCed the card ![]()

I'm willing to bet that the backside gets pretty hot when the voltage is increased and it's OCed, so that's why I bought the PCI slot dual fan setup. I'm not really so sure that I would need another heatsink, but if I think I need more I'll get it. $27 is pretty cheap, and it only weighs a pound!
MAN your card would look scary ![]() ![]()

Here is an excellent GPU stress program. I'll be using this to test my temps on Tuesday when my cooler arrives. It uses some pretty advanced filtering....HDR, the works.

Yes it is.
I just tried using ATI Overdive and it locked up. I then tried Cing with thesliders and it locked up...lol. I got enough on my hands without screwing up a card so I will just run stock for now.

Well that's strange....I have no problems OCing with Overdrive. I'm on the 7.9 Catalyst running 843/1100.
