But before I do I'd like to know if i can turn off its memory sharing with my system ram. So to anyone that knows... please input.

Well I plan on getting a nice sound card soon and i dont want my secondary graphics card to suck up all the pci bandwidth. Also, I don't think x16 cards will work because I have to operate my pci express slots at either x16, x2, x1, x1, or x8, x2, x1, x8 (or something like that) And I've got my primary on the x16 slot...

If anything will work in a physical x16 slot that is operating at x1 I could use that, is there a way to tell by looking at a card if it will work that way?

PCIe is scalable. If you put a 16x PCIe card into a physical 16x PCIe but electrical 1x PCIe, the card will work and run at 1x PCIe. As long as the PCIe card fits into a PCIe slot, it will work. It will just run at either lower speed of either the card or slot.

Yes my computer did not seem to recognize it was there, even when the slot was running at x8... I think its because the card sucks, the dvi port doesnt fit a normal connector either.

But it looks like I will be getting some x16 card that isn't a p.o.s. and running it at x1
