Wow. Unreal!
I can't get anything to work. Atitools crashes on startup, sometimes reboots my pc, Crossfire actualy reduces performance of games and I CANT OVERCLOCK MY SECOND CARD! Its not hardware. I checked everything out and everything is working fine. Its the software. What a pile of garbage. Im sorry I tried to save a few extra dollars by going ATI! Never again .Wish I had gone Nvidia. The good news is I scored 17k on 3dmark06. Great I can run that to make me feel better. Too bad fps plummets in any other game. CCC is a train wreck and the 7.10 drivers arent compatible with ATI tools? Are you kidding me?

Did you re-install the drivers when installing the second card? I always do that when I install a second card, whether it's SLI or Crossfire.
Plenty others have great success with this Crossfire set up, so there must be something that messes stuff up, and it's likely an older driver installation.

Well i have a x1600pro and my drivers are amazingly good so it's probably just the fact that your card is new so maybe the support for that particular card is bad?

ATITool should never be set to load at startup (I guess you have it to load by registry) since it conflicts with the CCC when it tries to load up (this was not always the case so I guess something went "wrong" along the way). Also, make sure you are using the latest beta (0.27). Second, what games are you trying to play? All newer titles support dual graphics setups to a degree, but some games have problems with either SLI or Crossfire (depends on the game).

If I could get ATITOOLS to work it may help alot. Example of 2 games with worse performance in CF are Silent hunter 4 and team fortress 2. TF 2 When on a single card I get 90fps (certain area I look at to test fps) and and crossfire gives me 60 fps. Silenthunter 4 is all around 20 fps lower. The only thing that is WAY higher on crossfire is 3dmark06 which hits 17k on cf and 13k on single. I think you are right about the conflict. Its not CCC its the drivers that it conflicts with. I uninstalled all drivers and loaded up atitool but it was a mess because it was real slow (no drivers installed). Then I tried to install just the drivers and no CCC and atitools crashed my machine. Any suggestions about getting the atitools to work? Also what are the proper steps for overclocking a crossfire? Heres what I was doing. Before I get in crossfire mode I make one card the master display. I overclock it. Then I make the other card master display and over clock that. THen I crossfire. Is that right? Also on atitools crashing, It NEVER works. Not even after startup is complete and I click the shortcut.

I hope this is the case and not a hardware issue.

Well i am far from being the man to ask about video card questions but whenever a card is released there are often some sort of driver issues related to it.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Well the latest. After composing myself, I uninstalled every driver and CCC, flashed both pro's to XT's. Reinstalled ccc and 7.10s. Didnt touch a thing. Booted up silenthunter 4 and in dock im getting 50fps. So far so good. Went back into CCC and turned on crossfire and nothing else. Main dislpay flipped on its own, had to disable crossfire and readjust main display to the correct monitor(FNG BUGGY PIEC OF SHT !!!) Loaded up silenthunter and it crashed a few seconds after I double clicked the shortcut. Rebooted PC, and checked to make sure crossfire was still on in CCC and on the correct dislpay. Loaded up SH4 again, it loaded this time. Loaded up the save game I was getting 50fps on. Now its 40 fps with cf on.... What in the world is goind on.

Well ATI Tray Tools isn't compatible with any of the R600 GPU base cards, so there's your first problem. Secondly there is not a way to overclock with Crossfire without OCing each card individually and flashing the card's BIOS.
Crossfire Overdrive will be built into one of the future Catalysts.....really soon, but I can't remember how soon. TBH it sounds like you just cluster f'ed your drivers man......you've done so much I don't even know where to begin. First of all you need to uninstall ATI Tray Tools (or ATI tools...whatever you're using) until you can get Crossfire working properly. Set Catalyst AI to advanced in the Catalyst Control Center. This will force Alternate Frame Rendering mode if you are running games that don't support it. I ran Crossfire with X1950 Pros and didn't have issues with it. I would reinstall all of your drivers using driver cleaner pro to clean also.
