Really, I had heard that multiple rails allowed for a more constant flow of volts. I was actually looking at a thermaltake 750W that had 4 12 volt rails. Thanks for the info man, Rep + |

I think you should be more worried with the brand name of the PSU than its "rated wattage". Just because a PSU is "700 watts" doesn't mean it's good. Stick with brands like Silverstone, PCPnC, or Corsair.
As far as the GPU, I would wait for the new ATI cards to be released.

This website has many links to 2900xt reviews on it. The first 4 also review power consumption. Note that the numbers you see are of the entire system, and not the card alone.
__________________A 750w PSU is recommend for crossfire, not single card use. AMD recommend a 550W for a single 2900xt. I happily run a 2900pro, overclocked beyond xt speeds, on a 620W PSU. Now, to clear up confusion over the 8-pin socket: A 6-pin PCIe cable will fit in there. It is designed for a 8-pin PCIe 2.0 cable, which has 2 extra ground wires. Yup, the extra two pins in the 8-pin socket are just ground. That is why people can oc just as far with 2 6-pin cable as those with a 6-pin and 8-pin. I'm assuming it's so the high current demands of high-end cards don't burn out ground wires, so they just got 2 more - I dunno. So, if you're feeling adventurous, plug a 6-pin into the 8-pin socket, and attach ground(black)wires to the spare 2 pin sockets - obviously, while turned off. This will turn on ATI overdrive, stops ATI Tool crashing (it crashes because it isn't being allowed to read temperature), and lets you see the temperature. I have a modular PSU, so just bought a PCIe 2.0 cable to save me the hassle.
