If you dont need it, then I guess it already is the best bang for the buck (ATM.)

50 bucks cheaper for a little bit of performance from benchmarks its beta drivers? you cant complain. =)

lol I don't think you were ever going to buy this card in the first place, I'v seen your posts in other threads... but that doesn't really matter, I wouldn't say that an 85mhz increase in the core giving a 1200point boost in the 3dmark score is "crap" in any sense of the word.

I for one think the BIOS is locked, from the reports given, but this is overclock.net, and we're not dumb, and we know that all you need is a simple BIOS flash to get around that (as soon as one comes out)

And even though I <3 AMD/ATI I think they do some really stupid things sometimes... this is just one crazy example of the limits of stupidity the company will go to... to put one of the worst designed heatsinks I've ever seen on probably one of the most overclockable video cards in recent history is ridiculous, and, as if that wasn't enough, they put a CAP on the mhz of the card, so even if you buy an aftermarket cooler you STILL can't get it past those speeds...

Maybe this means they will be releasing another card based on the RV670 core with jacked up clock speeds? maybe not

But either way I'll still be getting this card once it comes back in stock because I know all I need is a Duo Orb, and a bios flash to get this bad boy to crazy speeds, and not to mention I'm gonna Tri-Crossfire this card with one of the 3870X2s when they come out

i may still buy this for my personal rig, what im saying is strickly for hwboting, and ln2 runs. this card atm is useless for ln2 runs. Common hotfix from the open source community.

That's probably the stupidest comment I've seen in this thread. Even with the core capped at 860MHz, when overclocked it is slightly edging out the 8800gt in everything they tested it in. When we get the cap lifted, the core should be able to do way higher due to it being a 55nm die.

And the 2900pro will be faster yet.

What does 860 do in the real world? Well take a look at the benchmarks. It is beating the 8800gt in lost planet, WITH 8x aa and 16x af.

Yes the 2900pro already came out. Nobody has quite realized what it can do yet. I will be putting the spotlight on it on the 20th though, keep your eyes out.

EDIT:
And I'd love to see a shot of GPU-Z on the 860/2700 HD3870, I am very curious what the memory bandwidth is.
