Well the question you need to ask yourself is whether or not you really need the extra 80 mhz core. If it really means that much to you, then go for the BIOS flash.

3850 represent!..!

GIGABYTE GV-RX385512H Radeon HD3850 512MB

(from Newegg)

I have it tentatively clocked to 730/870. I'm gonna get it clocked higher after the RAM heatsinks arrive.
HD3850 GPU-z validation
I see about 35° idle -- 55-58° load.

So I decided I am going with this: HIS HD3850 512mb @ NCIX. Hopefully they have one at memoryexpress here in Calgary. If not, then I will have to order online at ncix (which the item shows "low in stock, or no stock at all").

Anyone know how to turn off the GPU shutoff deal in the drivers? Won't let me go past 870-ish.
From what I have read -- 870 seems to be about the limit on 3870s. And are you talking about ATIs power-saving feature, powerplay or something?? I f so-- I think that would be something you'd have to do in the BIOS-- right now at least.

Card: Powercolor
GPUZ: Validation
Stock cooling

Update: I had to downclock to run CS:S stress test; I think the
problem would be solved with a volt mod. I guess I'll
just have to wait and see.

Update 2: I just noticed in the validation that the subvendor is HIS.
