Default Custom Cooling 3870 X2's

Has anyone figured out how the heatsink is mounted on the X2 yet? I'd be curious to see if you could outfit this monster with, say, 2x HR-03 GTs. Perhaps I don't want an X2 without some certainty that I can bolt things to it to snap my mobo in two.

I've seen talk of putting 2x VF900's on it, but I wonder if the mounting brackets would match.

As far as i've heard, the mounting brackets are the same as the 3870, so anything that would fit the 3870 SHOULD fit the 3870x2, barring space issues of course.

The X2 use different mounting hole and they will not fit, if you want to take a look at this, the two core use something like the 7600-series hole.

I emailed Thermalright regarding a aftermarket cooler and got this reply.

Quote:
We currently do not have a cooler for this card. Although I will forward your message to our engineers. Thanks for the suggestion and your support in our company
So hopefully we gonna see a cooler for the 3870x2.

Your probly right.

When they say they will pass it onto their engineers, they mean they will hit the delete button and forget you ever emailed them.
