Just in time to try and overthrow NVidia's 9-series.

It isn't. 256-bit is much cheaper and does not cause that many problems when using extremely fast memory.

hopefully this release bumps the 3850 prices way down to around $100 and I can go crossfire for cheap.

Bit surprised by GDDR5 possibly in use. That is really expensive, AMD/ATI must be losing money to Nvidia by trying to undercut them in the price wars. But it's a really smart move, and i don't think i, us or Nvidia saw a 4000 Series coming so quickly. Just when the 3870 X2 launched, Nvidia must have been laying back thinking....pfft whatever we have the 9800GX2. Now what they going to do?
