This has been happening randomly for the past week or so. It only happens when launching a game, or minimizing/maximizing to a game. Or even 3dmark, or any 3d application that makes your screen "fash" or "flicker" when launching. But like i said, it doesn't happen all the time. Now, if i turn the monitor off and back on, it fixes it, or minimize/maximize a couple times might fix it. And it doesn't always look the same, different patterns, Sometimes the screen may appear to be split in half.
VIDEO CLICK please! ![]() I'm not even sure this is video card related as much as monitor. I have all the newest drivers, and the one for my monitor. if that don't work, heres the link ttp://s151.photobucket.com/albums/s145/Coreyhm1/?action=view¤t=DSCF2770.flv

I think it's pretty clear that it's your monitor acting up.
What do yuo have your refresh rate set to?

Mmm... so it's not a dodgy refresh rate.
Got any old (CRT?) monitor sitting somewhere you can test with?

Yeah, i do. The thing is, it happens so randomly it would be hard to tell if thats it. I can even try hooking this LCD up by VGA instead of DVI and see if that makes a difference.
I mean, it could be anything causing this, right? even some kind of corrupted file some were.. i don't know... I'm just rambling on now ![]() Its going on 3am, i guess I'll try testing some things out tomorrow ![]() Thanks.

The fact that turning the monitor off/on or minimizing/maximizing several times strongly suggest to me it's the screen.
It could be that you have a driver for your monitor that is acting up, and that switching it off and on re-initializes the monitor... but I think that's a remote possibility. Could *could* always try to re-install all drivers that are related to your monitor and video card.

I know this is completely off topic...but holy crap man! 4ghz@1.2v?! That must be the golden chip!
/offtopic Yeah, it sounds like your monitor is not happy. I'd say hook up the old crt monitor you have (or another lcd if you have it) and use it for a while. See if you get similar results or if nothing happens.

![]() I'll probably end up trying my CRT monitor, i would need to have it hooked up for at least a day to even get lucky, or unlucky depending on how you look at it, as to if it will happen again. It happens randomly. EDIT: can my ram cause this? i was thinking, it seems like it started when i was benching and was pushing my ram too far. And a similar looking screen happened, but with a complete lockup. And it has started this since then. Or can ram even cause it?

I would be very surprised to say the least... since that turning the monitor off/on fixes it.

Hmm, I'm stumped. I wonder what could cause the monitor to do that, if thats it. I mean, its fine most of the time, unless i minimize a game or launch a 3D app that causing that screen to flash really fast when opening (it just happened again minimizing a game). I know it can't be a video card problem. The only thing i can think of is the monitor, a bad file some were, or something else. The only thing that really gets me, is thats the only time it happens.
![]() I'm ordering new ram at the end of the week anyway, if that doesn't fix it by some miracle, then I'll swap monitors for a day or so and suffer with a CRT. I hope its not this monitor, this is a $350 monitor ![]()
