(5) SLI/CF is not always better than a single card. (6) CTRL + F11 will start up the dell recovery console

It could be because of that power supply. You might need to get one with more watts.

Well I wouldn't put it on the psu necessarily, if anything that psu would cause unexpected shutdowns.
I would first look at the bios powerscheme and make sure all is set right in there. If everything in there was ok then I would look at windows power scheme. Other then that, what did you do last time as you said it has done it before?

my machine isn't locking up and freezing. the system works perfectly fine. it just doesn't shut down completely. there are no issues with the machine. it will restart when i hit restart. but when i hit shutdown. it goes through the shutdown procedure, and gets to the part where a normal computer will turn off after the complete shutdown, but mine will just stay at the black screen. the video card has been shut down, i know this because the monitor will receive no signal.

Did you run driver cleaner pro or something similiar to get rid of whatever your old video drivers were?
Did you at least remove the old driver and reboot then install new ones if not? Just wondering, what's it do when you hit restart instead of shutdown, does it hang at a black screen or does it work fine?
