I knew ATI drivers used to be not great but that sounds like... EVIL drivers man...

Just out of curiousity did that install have the SP1 update yet? I hear 8.6 only runs if SP1 is installed.

It takes quite a bit to disturb my emotional peace, however about day 2 a few hours into working on my PC when everything locked up when i thought i had it fixed i vented a bit of anger to a friend.

I highly doubt that it's actually from the CCC update, as nobody else has had this problem.

Go to the thread for it, 3 other users reported this issue, as well as NCSpec having it and managing to fix his PC. This is CCC8.6, further evidence exists by the fact when i remove my video card in Device Manager the machine runs flawlessly.

The same thing happened to me, but the shadow copies had something to do with it. Long story short I had to reinstall as well. One thing I do like about reformatting now is that vista puts all of your old stuff into a folder called WindowsOld.
