Just got a sapphire 4850 A good upgrade over my 8600gt

Im using a 1680x1050 monitor and under TF2 (i could only set the maximum resolution to 1024x1280) and get 80 fps when im alone and 30 fps in combat, is it normal for it to go that low?

Also, for overclocking, i've got it at 700/1190, how do i bump it up over 700 on the core? Why is ati limiting it?

any chance on a voltmod/nibitor for ati? Like bios flashing progs.

It's on brand new drivers, easy killer.


Give ATI a little time to work things out a bit, I'm sure the new Cats will be out really soon.

I havn't seen any voltmods out for the 4850 yet.

What drivers are you using for your new card? I had to do the hot fix.

I went from XFX8600gt to Visiontek HD4850. Huge difference once I cleaned all old drivers (nvidia and ati) and installed hot fix...

Just
Un-install all old drivers
Boot to safe mode run driver cleaner (remove all old drivers)
Boot back to Win
Install Hot Fix

I had the Asus en8600gt and now have the Sapphire 4850. I reinstalled Vista 32 and installed the drivers on the clean install.

Also i'm using the zalman Vf100 cooler, wors great, 37 C idle



What's the hotfix/what does it do?

Where do i get it? Thanks

Both hard-mods and soft-mods for 4850/4870 are being done already. With soft-mod, voltage is limited to 1.2v. Hard-mod, well, check out XS. They are hitting 1.4v or higher I think (adding another power connector to the card). I think the highest OC on a 4850 is 920/1300 (even heard someone hit 1000 on the core).

For soft-modding, download Radeon BIOS Editor 1.11 and ATIWinFlash from TechPowerup and the latest GPU-Z to dump your stock BIOS.
