![]() Background: Hey guys! With the rapid success of the 4800-series graphics cards, I know many have been asking about how to watercool their new boards. Full-coverage boards are typically expensive and sometimes put more restriction on a loop than the user would like. Ramsinks are sometimes used, but I personally worry about card-resale value when using them. D-Tek's unisinks use the existing card's mounting hardware to give benefits of full-coverage blocks, without the cost. Typically you can get a GPU block and unisink for half the cost of a FC block, and it looks super cool, too. The Problem: However, they don't make them for the new ATI line....YET. I was thinking the Overclock.net community could rally support, either personally via e-mail or through this thread to drum up a new product for the 4800-series cards. The Mission/Goal: Post in this thread if you would like to see D-tek offer something as cool as their Unisink for the 4800-series graphics cards. Post suggestions or requests for the design and maybe they could take it into consideration. They have enough NVidia products, lets see some ATI action! Go red team! Hopefully this poll/petition is within ToS. If not, just PM me and I will remove the post. I tried to get it OK'd by mods but no one would answer me =\

I love the concept of the unisink: using screws to mount ramsinks and such. With traditional ramsinks, you either use thermal tape which sometimes doesn't stick that well or use permanent thermal paste. If I get a 48xx, I would love a unisink for it.

They did do a unisink for the 2900 series, so it's entirely possible they'd do one for the 4800s.

I'm not sure, if they wanted to continue making unisinks, then why weren't there any 38xx unisinks?

They have been keeping up with Nvidia's products, but not ATI. probably because the market share was so skewed in green's favor. But with the popularity of the 4800-series, I think they could be convinced...

Who is Iandh? It would be awesome to see some out in the near future. However, it should be noted that one of the major benefits of a "unisink" style block is that it is cheaper than a FC waterblock. So....if that isn't the case, the argument for a heatsink like the unisink isnt as strong.

Here's an example of the 8800GT heatsinks he produced a few weeks after the 8800GT launch: http://www.petrastechshop.com/cu88cokitbyi.html Unisink block generally cost $30-40. Even with a GPU block, they are still cheaper than a full coverage block. In addition, the GPU block is re-usable so you lose less in transaction costs if you sell your unisink. In addition, GPU block cool better.
