could you post a banchmark same as that but with a diff game?

like cod4

as i think crysis is a bit well nvidia lappy dog with a peace of shrapnel in its head took that from zero punctuation Nvidia cards always seem to perform better then any ati cards when it comes to crysis but this does not seem to happen in other games ati cards 4850 and 4870 are always near the top in games like cod4

Looks like my rough math was pretty close. But those numbers are at 1680x1050, not the 1920x1200 in question. I would probably go with a 4850 now and another one down the road. You can get one for as little as $160 after MIR at newegg. Heck, two of those would only cost $320 and give you about 50% more performance over a 4870.

you don't have a SLI motherboard the 4870 would be the way to go

chessmyantidrug: not 50% about 30% maximum

Yea it will be a pretty major difference...I'm upgrading from 2 2900XTs that were heavily overclocked, so they were a little faster than 2 8800GTs. I think you'll be pleased.

I'm not sure about TF2, as I never dropped below 60 FPS (I keep VSync enable on all my games that support it), but your 8800GT may have.....I run at 1920x1080 so we have similar resolutions.

seens like 2x8800GTs is not much faster then 4870, i mean both are awesomely fast ingame anyways, but look, 2x8800GTs are a lot to deal with, u know, PSU requirements, cooling managements, driver setups, to have 2 GPUs there more likely to have some game/appication or whatever that u have to tweak to work, or don't work well.
hd4870 single card is powerful, less power needed, less heat, single card better managed with drivers to applications, great reputation so far. and of course new technology, better image quality, and near future they gonna pwn in Folding as well, i mean the technology of the card is gonna be awsome not only game but other fields as well.

think twice

I dont think you will see much improvement in tf2 with a 4870. TF2 is a CPU dependent game just like all other source games. But in cod4 you should notice a huge improvement

Im sure you could figure out howto OC on that 650i board then get another 8800gt that would be a better upgrade and cheaper
