Which numbers are you questioning? I said CF'd 4850s will provide about 50% better performance over a single 4870 and SLI'd 8800 GTs will provide about 25% better performance.

This shows CF'd 4850s performing almost 60% better than a single 4870, but over 100% better than a single 4850. The 8800 GTs are a little over 20% better than a single 4870. Performance scales roughly the same at 1920x1200.

Im sure you could figure out howto OC on that 650i board then get another 8800gt that would be a better upgrade and cheaper
Well not necessarily....like anything it has to do with what CPU and GPU are being used, along with what resolution. At his res neither the CPU nor the CPU will be a bottleneck....they both will have power to spare.
Now if he were running 25XX res with 24X CFAA 16X AF then you would see TF2 become more GPU bound I believe.

THat being said I don't think TF2 is a game that will motivate people to buy a new GPU.....not nearly as taxing on the GPU as other games arriving soon, such as Far Cry2, STALKER CLear SKy, and Crysis Warhead.

A single 4870 would be a very close match for a pair of 8800GTS' much less regular GT's

Perhaps you should update your info...
Look at the benchmarks

hd4870 single card is powerful, less power needed, less heat, single card better managed with drivers to applications, great reputation so far. and of course new technology, better image quality, and near future they gonna pwn in Folding as well, i mean the technology of the card is gonna be awsome not only game but other fields as well.

think twice
I could run two 8800GT's on my power supply, and its not the greatest around. Folding? Did he ask about folding? When is the technology in that card going to magically transform? Plus, its annoying selling stuff online, I'd much rather get the 8800GT for less money and more performance.

For you, think three times
