Yeah from under 3.4 to 4ghz you can get at least 3k, but when you come a good jump over 4ghz its not too much to gain in my experience

your motherboard is not the bottleneck..
You can't expect 4ghz from a Q9400 anyways, maybe 3.6-3.8ghz max I would think.
Try to get it to 3.6ghz for a start!

Hi people,I hope you can help me. I have a Sapphire HD4870X2,when I start a game (GTA 4 or Cod 5) there is a bit loud, strange noise. As I know,it cames from the VGA.But when I am on the desktop there is not this noise. It is normal?I'm very frustrated, due this noise. But the games running good, that is not a problem just this sound. And I become very frustrated.

Thanks for the answer and good night mates.

If it is a high pitched sound then it's the capacitor. It's fine.

It is a bit difficult to describe this sound, but I think you are right. It is a continuous, high pitched sound, during the games when it shows 3D objects. During the loading screen is not this noise.

So it's alright? My comp runs good?

Those are your GPU's firing away, joyously rendering your eye candy so that you can go, "wooooooaaaahh...".
