Yeah, I leave mine at 50% all the time, it idles around 47 C here. I don't find the noise too bad at 50% personally. Maybe you should invest in headphones that'll keep out the noise, and crank it to 100% xD

It's odd that only WoW does that, have you looked around for a fix, or to see if other people are having the same problem?

Mine hits 100c in game with the fan at 50%
I think there may be something wrong with it though.

Hmm yea the temp seems to stay the same with other games aswell.

My case has open rosters in its front, roof and side pannels, so maybe thats why the noise bothers me so much. http://www.hardware.info/nl-NL/produ...fK/viewphoto/1
Yes I know its an ugly case! I dint have much options though since the card is so HUGE.
But turning up the fan speed isnt realy an option

The 4870x2 is notorious for running extremely hot. Before I put my two under water, I was seeing temps just like yours. What case are you using? If you can, you might want to throw some intake fans on the side panel (if possible) so they basically blow directly on the GPU. You could also look at an aftermarket air cooler. If I was you and didn't want to go water, I would go with one of these:
Accelero XTREME 4870x2
With that you should see some nice temperature improvements, hopefully!
Well, I hope that helps!

Laurie, I would have to agree and say that 100C under load with fan at 50% is definitely bad. If it's still under warranty, I would suggest an RMA while you still can.

That is ugly lol.
It fits in my case with loads of room to spare. my case is quite petite too.

I traded for the card on here
I would get the accelero for sure but it is not available over here.

Hmm this might just be the perfect solution Togue! Its available here for 60€
Did you notice a decrease in noise after you installed it??

I've been looking at the install manual, I asume it replaces the original fan and is placed on the front side of the card?
Because I dont have much space between the backside of my card and my RAM ><

Yeah, it is ugly but if it's anything like the other Accelero products, it should make quite an improvement and probably be even quieter! That sucks that it is not available over there but I know how you feel. I'm stationed overseas (US Navy) in Japan right now and finding stuff here is next to impossible and I hate waiting on the mail!

I never used it as my two 4870x2's are watercooled. I had one on my old 4870 though and it made a huge difference.

As for mounting, it will mount in replacement of the stock on on the same side.

The website that I linked showed a 50% decrease in temps and about an 80% decrease in noise with this cooler over the stock one!
