9.7's, and on a Crysis scene where I get 45fps in DX9, I get 7fps in DX10. Just for comparison. It's been this bad since as far as I can remember though, and DMC4 DX10 drops to 40fps after a while.

Here's the behavior I notice. My GPU's won't get up to 100% on DX10. They hover at around 40-50%, and stay there. DX9, on the other hand, works perfectly.

Well you usually get twice the frames with dx9 over dx10 depending on the game. Getting 7fps with dx10 in crysis is bad though. Did you try, uninstall, wipe and reinstall the cat9.7's?

edit: Sounds driver related and if a reinstall does not work out, go back to cat9.6. Sometimes you just have problems with one set of drivers. I remember cat9.4's didn't agree with my card and I went back to cat 9.3s till cat9.5 came out. All has been well since.

I'll give that a shot and see what happens. I already did a wipe of my old 9.6's to install 9.7 though, so I don't know how much good this will do.

It is mandatory you wipe every time you uninstall the cat drivers, even when going back. Mixing remnants of drivers will lead to problems.

My main gripe about going back driver versions is the lack of new Crossfire profiles for recently released games.

Anyway yeah, I'll probably try 9.6 again, though those did give me several driver crashes. 9.5's were rock solid, though again, I'd be missing out on two revisions' worth of CF profiles. Renaming EXEs simply isn't as good a solution when it comes to performance, either.

Going back one or two driver revisions isn't too bad. If you read the release notes, they usually only add or make a fix, and/or performance improvement for ~2-3 game tiles per revision.

This this is going cold, not many 4870 X2 owners around these days.

Starting to rethink my previous belief that only the 4870 X2 is hurt by pci-e 2.0 at 8X. Finding a few X48 scores very close to mine P45. Maybe Ati's internal side port design really does what that claim. Doing more research... interesting stuff.
