ATI HD4870X2 Owners Thread

So you got rid of your board and graphics card?

Interesting to see that people are having problems with the latest and greatest video card released. I am personally gonna wait till all the problems are fixed before I even pick up 2 4870 X2's for my next christmas/new year build.

I have had zero problems. I also built two systems with X2's for friends and they have also had not a single issue thus far. All 3 cards were Sapphire.

I gotta say, I have not had a single problem with my X2s... and I have been using the 8.8 cats the entire time, which is supposed to make them run a lot hotter.

I love the card so far but I have a little concern with crysis. At a resolution of 1920x1200 with 4x aa im averaging like 15 fps on the benchmark and I have tried other drivers, nvidia chipset drivers are up to date, etc..no help. Ive seen where people are averaging 30fps with a setup like mine and im HALF that lol. My proc clocks are at 3.8ghz so I know im ok there. Is this to be expected?

Crysis uses quad cores really well and also I was running it at 1680X1050 and only getting a 30fps average. Even though this card is awesome, it still is pushed hard in crysis. 4Xaa in Crysis also brings it down a marginal ammount. I believe drivers will help in time but till then it still is a game we can finally play, but are still pushed at certain parts.

So does that performane seem to be expected in this game with this card? (I am ok with the fact that crysis still is unplayable maxed out as I think the game is sheety. Im more worried that something is wrong with my setup.)

yup, might as well take me off the 780i owner list as well.


I might pick up another x2 though, after all, more than likely mine was tampered with since it wasn't sealed.
