hello there, found this thread via google when searching for my dfi lp p35 and hd4870x2. i am having problems gettings this card to work proplerly in both vista and xp. in 2d it seems fine (albeit the annyoing "driver stopped working" messages in vista every now and then) but when trying to launch 3d the computer either restarts itself or it isnt performing as it should. now i have an assumption that it might be due to my psu which is a corsair hx620, but theoretical it should work plus i have seen people running this card with even less watt psus (with dual and not quadcores though).
__________________also updated to the last bios (released in may) which i have downloaded from the dfi site already. any ideas what the problem could be...? thank you

Sounds like your board is incompatible or your X2 is dying. Since the DFI x38/48 boards initially had issues with the X2 that required a new BIOS, I am assuming that the P35-T2R had them as well, but nobody tested it yet and it still has them.

I just switched from x64 XP to x32 tonight, and I just want to point out something I noticed in regards to the fan controls.
__________________In x64, I was able to adjust the fan speed by modifying the .XML profile, but I wasn't able to use the ATI Expert Tool. In x32, I'm not able to adjust the fan speed by modifying the .XML profile, but I can now use the ATI Expert Tool, but the only thing is that, it forces me to use either 27% or 50%. 27% is too low to keep the card cool even at Idle, and 50% makes it really loud! I did try to modify the numbers in DFC.cfg file from C:\Program Files\EXPERTool ATI, but it didn't do anything. Anyone got an idea on this? Thanks. Edit: Haha, it's funny! Rivatuner v2.10 just got released, and it works perfectly! Forget that ATI Expert Tool and .XML thingy! lol

I would stick with XP x64 personally. For one, you can't use all your memory. You have a total of 6GB (5GB usable), and 32-bit only supports 4gb. Secondly, XP x64 is a far better OS.
