ATI HD4870X2 Owners Thread

I bought a Diamond 4870x2 recently. Haven't had the chance to put it in my rig yet though

Codon -- you got dual 4870X2s? So do I, and I score 21600 in 3dmark06, and my q9450 is at ~3.67ghz. I use the 8.526 drivers. I just leave the cards at stock, at least until we have a reliable overclocking utility that fully supports the 4870X2, let alone two of them.

Your PC is extremely similar to mine.

i just installed the drivers and ran 3dmark06 here is the results with the drivers that came with the cd and the ones available with 8.8 catalyst

here is one 4870x2 3dmark06 results !! i'm really disappointed about the results the difference between 2x 4870 and 1x 4870 is barely noticeable !! i know that my cpu does indeed bottleneck the the GPUS but they should do better than this hopefully in the upcoming drivers they're going to improve the quadfire scaling http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=8066737

I can't upload all that to rapidshare myself its too large, sorry. Later today, I will try and get my BIOS settings posted. Keep in mind, I am on water (for the CPU and NB anyway). If you want to see dual 4870X2 scaling, 3dMark06 is not the place to do it. You need to use the extreme preset on 3dmark vantage. dual 4870x2s scores X12600, single 4870X2 scores around X7000.

So Im thinking about picking one of these beasts up. My question is I know that a big reason to get the X2 is for large monitors. I do have a 32inch 1080p. Will a single 4870 handle that rez? No sense in buying an X2 when a single 4870 will do.

I mainly play WOW, CoD4 and want to play the new Crysis Warhead.

Get the X2, or two of them. I LOL at everybody who says it is a waste. No, UT3 and other games can still drop to 40 FPS at 1920x1200 with 8xAA and 16xAF which is uncomfortably close to unplayable.

Just because the average FPS is 85, does not mean anything.
