4870X2/4870 tri-fire is a good thing, 4870X2/4850 would be a waste.

The only bench I ran before my X2 went boom, 06 score.
I played COD4 alot with tri-fire, 200 fps average/500 fps max @ 19*12.
I'll most likely get a 1 gb 4870 to tri-fire with my X2, tri-fire is the sweetspot IMO.

I was a bit puzzled by the score though grunion

Thats with your quad at 3.917 and X2 + 4870?

Here is my X2 with quad at 4ghz

mine scored alone a bit higher. given my cpu was slightly faster and XP is a bit quicker with 3dmark06 over vista but I expected a big leap.

XP > Vista

Makes me wonder though if tri-fire was even working

Had to be, COD4 saw massive improvements.

what are the stipulation's for that?
I had inquired about the review of the X2 done by Drivenheaven.net. THey had answered me on a qustion I had about a photo in which the testbed had an Ageia PhysX card in with the X2.

"Physx cards work fine with ATI graphics cards. In terms of 3DMark, i never use it, but my understanding is that the Physics tests would increase in score. Graw 2 receives added features and image quality so its not about "scores" as such, more the experience you have when playing... basically it is far better with PhysX enabled."

Xp usually only adds about 800 points though over vista and since service pack 1 on vista, sometimes less.

One 4870 vs two in crossfire (I tested both ways) gave over 2000 points in score differences.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but say you had a 4850, would it be possible to crossfire that with a 4870? I know nothing of Crossfire, since I've always been an Nvidia bum.
