Yes it will working fine, its called crossfire-X. I even did this on my another PC x1800xt+x1600, and they are really working as i tested it with 3DMark2005. No harm in trying it, just make sure you have enough power.

Crossfire-X is not set-up specific anymore, any 2 cards are called CFX, be they the same or not.
