I went with the 4850 and I am happy with it, plus in a few months when the prices come down some more for the 4850s I will just go out and buy another

The 4850 should be fine on that but you have sli board so may get 4870 if you plan to keep the board for awhile.

My 8800GTS 512 plays anything smoothly at 1680x1050...if my card does that the 4850 will be even better..but i guess the 4870 is a better investment..but both of those cards will game comfortably at said resolution.

Either a 4850 or a 4870 will do great at that resolution.

I picked the 4870 because it will last me longer.

You also have to think about the PSU because one main drawback of the 4870 is that it drains a lot of power. My power suppy can't handle the 4870.

It depends on your budget. The HD4870 will absolutely demolish everything you throw at it and runs cooler but you have to shell out more and the power consumption is higher.

The HD4850 can play everything at max with 4xAA or so but it will drop under 60 FPS in games like CoD4.

This is for my bros comp remember :P so my sig rig doesn't really apply. He is comming up from 7600 GT OC Sli setup (my old one. Lightning hit our house and fried his comp and messed a bunch of stuff up with his. Insurance has given us 750 for his computer so he gets a nice upgrade from a AMD 3700+ (single core) with DDR 1 memory. )

I think we are going to go wit hthe 4850 because he only really plays WoW and some steam games (like Orange box). Thanks for the input guys!
