mine work great on my 9800gtx, which i assume puts out as much heat (or more) that a 4850.

At stock clocks with my fan at 45% won´t go hotter than 60ºC full load. If he wants to oc as much as you did,he should get a new cooler just for that, because with the fan at 80% it won´t last much and it´ll be to noisy. But if you keep it stock, there is no need.

T-Rad² wins.
http://en.expreview.com/2008/09/09/r...olers-roundup/ Best value would probably go to the Accelero though.

Yeah, you do have alot of room in that case for airflow, mines just a mid-tower. I even put an 80mm fan in the PCI slots, but that only shaved off a couple of degrees. I think you got lucky with the thermal paste, the application on mine was pretty botched.

and i did see that heatsink on thermalright's website, but it said it was only a preview and it didn't have any partners listed where you could buy the item. weird. edit: one thing i really like about arctic cooling's vga cooler is that it uses copper heatpipes and a copper base, with aluminum fins. thermalright is all copper. aluminum fins reduce weight allowing them to add more fins too
