![]() ... actually, not solved. I only figured this out a couple of hours ago when I went to test the re-mounting of the blocks... or should I say, "bollocks!" It still does the same thing. ![]() I'm not sure what to do. I still gaze at that Danger Den block... crickey! ... I'm so confuddled. Litlratt suggested that I switch blocks on cards. He is correct in his methodology, but what he has in logic I lack in confidence. I guess what I am trying to say is that I have one functioning at (imho) nothing less than "excellent" levels (i.e. 28-30C load with Vantage [monitored with HW Monitor] ) and I don't wanna mess with that mojo.... yah.. I know superstitious (read: lazy and fearful), but I really want to leave well enough alone there. So... now I need to un-FUBAR the bad one somehow. One key element is that when I lay the block on the card as it sits naturally, the holes for the mounting screws are about 1/16" off-center. This does not bode well; if not for this block, but for any other one that was milled with the same specs (if I understand the process accurately). ...seems we are in the same boat heading down a very frustrating river... and yeah... and without a paddle. <emo-whine-rant-complaint ends> *sigh* Girface is being a Gentleman and helping me with this, perhaps he will be able to shake something loose.

Sorry for the double, but I did not want this missed.
Maestro ~ Which (if any) of the LEDs are glowing on the backside of the card (near the power connectors)? Do your cards make slight "ticking" noises? Have you re-installed the stock coolers to ensure that the cards still function?

I am just going to send them back. I fin it unacceptable that EK knows this is an issue and continues to sell the blocks. It's getting ridiculous...I had a lot of faith and respect in EK which is why I reccomend them and pay top dollar for them and now I am disgusted.
I'll put some other maker's block on there and call it a day...this is a huge set back.

THe second card three toward the Power connector end are all lit all the time no matter what. I can unmplug the power and they are lit. THey never wink oir change. The first slot card after the first boot from CMOS CLR will light up the two middle Leds toward the power connector. If this is anything like the other HD cards the one LED that never lights up iks the temp LED so that's good...but why the power issue?

No ticking BTW and I will put on the stock coolers tomorrrow. I've tried a variety of things with the screws...that's not the prob from what I can tell. I think the blocks are shorting the card some other way.

I think that you are correct.
It seems to me that when I tighten the screws down (at all) that the card is being pulled away from the DVI connector end of the card. Perhaps one the of the walls of the cutouts in the face of the block is being pulled against two or more of the components and is shorting them...?

You gonna do that? I think that I may follow suit. I am so done messing with that block. Perhaps in a couple of days I will simply mount the Danger Den block and call it a wrap. C'est la Vie...

Seems like EK is slipping,
They had trouble with the 280GTX block to, cards were over heating and ended up replacing a bunch of them. My EK mofet block didn't fit right and I had to customize it to get it to fit.
