I´m waiting for my EK block, it´s in the mail, so this issue you have don´t sound so good but I read this in a thread over at XS. (page 3).

I used some spare washers from old (EK) blocks and has fixed the problem.

I'm guessing some kind of short on the back of the card or something. Didn't use any different screws just the paper washers which sorted it straight the way.

I'll give that whirl sometime today..but it does not make alot of sense. The card is metal lugs around most of the screw holes...there are two that are suspect the CPU hold downs with M3 x 6mm screw, And like others that have tried this these screws are too short even for paper washers.

This is the only issue that I have had with EK products, everything else has been stellar.

Girface was kind enough to offer his assistance, and PM'd me some links and some information (Thanks Girface!).

I'm gonna give this one last go in a very, very watchful manner to see if I can tell where this short is happening.

I am also gonna see if I can find some PVC screws (a solution provided in one of the links Girface sent me).

Yes, I tried with non-conductive washers to no avail.

I will try to see if I can find some PVC screws with the same thread-count and pitch and go with those. If that does not solve the problem then I will throw in the towel and raise the white-flag.

Good luck with your card, and please don't be discouraged by this as one of the blocks that I have was perfect the first time-around.

Not sure...

I'm gonna try Friedman Brothers. They have this wall of hardware, and one section is devoted to plastic "stuff". Perhaps I will get lucky.

There is also Fastenall (a hardware-only store) in town, and I will hit them up as well.

I'll post back this afternoon if I am able to find anything.

Hi Syrillian and CyberDruid... I stumbled across this thread and I am glad I did because I was planing on throwing on my new eK 4870 X2 "Nickel" block on in a couple of days. Now I am wondering if I should even try? Well I hope you get it it to work Syrillian. I will be watching closely. And by the way your cards do look very nice..
