Hey guys, I have arranged to sell my HD2900XT 1gb for $125 (on craigslist, so who knows if this guy will follow through) and I am going to try and sell my other two cards so I can buy a 4870 1gb.
Which manufacturer's model of 4870 1gb should I buy? Does one use better ram than another? Have a better cooler? Better warranty? I haven't bought ATI before for a while, so the help would be appreciated. Also, I am selling two cards. The card that is currently in my sig rig, the 8800 GTS 512 flashed to 750/2200 And also the xfx 8800 GS XXX edition If anyone has some interest, PM me Thanks Guys!

Are you really set on the 1GB? Then I suggest the PowerColor. It is the only one that comes with a nice aftermarket cooler. According to the reviews it's whisper quiet at everything under 40% fan speed

I just bought the Asus 1gb, and installed it about an hour ago. So far so good. Interesting thing, it appears to idle cooler than the Visiontek 512 I had before.
I only picked it because it was the cheapest, but so far I don't regret it. Good luck.

That was weird. The Newegg page you linked to displayed prices @350+. Do you think there are price hikes coming? Or did they just screw up.
Also, why wouldn't I go with the 1gb model over the 512? It seems to outperform the 512 by a decent margin when you consider it is nearly the same price, esp. at high res with max filters applied.

Oh did i mention it's very fast! Up there with the 280's in some tests. The powercolor is factory OC'd as well, but there is some room for performing black magic in your own livingroom still! The only thing that's kinda bad, is you need to use a bios editor and flash the cars. If not the fan will start & stop all the time when idling. I set mine to 15% constant on idle. Simple and quick, but not completely safe ![]() Anyways i recommend the powercolor HD4870 1gb GDDR5 PCS+

VisionTek, Sapphire, HIS and Diamond are good. VisionTek is the only one that has a lifetime warranty.

It seems there are not as many quality manufacturers with lifetime warranties for ATI cards. xfx has a double lifetime warranty, I used it to RMA a card from a customer who had brought in his 7600gt that had failed. We sold him a new video card and xfx sent us an 8600 gt free replacement. Needless to say, we came out ahead on that one.
It looks like this guy who was going to buy my hd2900xt flaked. Frustrating to be led on like that. I guess the only thing left is to sell my cards. Anyone here interested? I'll let 'em go for a good price.
