4830 = RV770 "LE". Only minimal shaders cut, but the biggest thing here is cost-saving PCBs (and fans, ugh/yay!)

It was never changed, Fud is stupid as usual. I can say however that 640SP/32TMU/256 bit was the original RV770 design. They added more because they had the space.

But we've definitely surpassed the super value that the Radeon 9500/9550 provided these days.

Imagine 4830 CF for $260 or even lower. Nuts.

We got to find out if the 640mhz Shader clock is true. I always wondered why the 4870 scores so much higher in 3Dmark 06 than my oc'd 4850. If the 4830 really have 640mhz shader clock, then that means it's not locked to core clock? Maybe we can somehow oc it?

4870 scores more because of GDDR5. Also from test i have seen my OC 4850 comes very close to stock 4870.

I scored 15.2k in 3DMark 06 with my sig rig, I've seen some 4ghz E8400 and 4870 setups hit over 16k. At default res, the ram shouldn't make that big of a difference.
