I would just suggest cleaning them very well with isopropyl alchohol a few times to remove any residue. others have used heatguns or a hair dryer on the thermal tape while the sticker was still on to heat it up causing it to stick better, if you take the sticker off and heat gun it will dry it out and not stick well at all. last but not least you can use tiny amounts of super glue but i would use this as a last resort.

Thats your VRM's and yes if you dont cool them kiss your card goodbye .
It wont run for 10mins at stock without dying Its almost the most important thing to cool on that whole card. Do not listen to these folks and google what I said !!!!! Your card depends on it.

i was responding the OP wanting to apply his ramsinks, was it that hard to understand? not putting any cooling on the memory would be very foolish.

There Can be a film of oil on all the chips on these cards so you might try a quick wipe with 90 or 99% isopropyl (rubbing alchohol) or rub and eraser on them before you try to stick the on.
On a side note I think you need to be more worried about the smaller chips just to the left in that pic

A quick note , use a hacksaw to cut off the original peice that covered that area
this way it will screw in untill you can get more ramsinks . if you notice the heights are staggered and no 1 heatsink can contact all the vrm area . Again this is THE MOST IMPORTANT PART TO KEEP COOL.

I don't think you absolutely have to, but doing it is probably good
