Yeah the increase in vram while keeping the same bus width has proven (as it has with 8800gt 512mb and 1gb models) that with GDDR3 increasing the vram did not affect performance at all. Thanks for this review to prove that the same is true with the 4850.

One place that a card such as this can benefit is SLI/Crossfire. As we all know, these two interfaces are limited to the RAM capacity of a single card. Sure we get more core and shader power, but the RAM stays the same. With an SLI or Crossfire 1GB setup, the extra RAM does have a benefit at higher resolutions. With a single card, not so much.

Nice job, sno.lcn. I'm considering getting one GV-R485MC-1GH to upgrade my ages old GF6600. May I ask you a couple of questions:
- What are the memory chips? Qimonda or Samsung?
- I read somewhere (maybe on newegg) that this card does not have HDMI audio support because there is no audio hardware onboard. Can you confirm this?

I dont' have the card with me, I'm almost positive it has Qimonda chips.

I didn't try the HDMI audio, but I've heard that as well.
