I know when I first got the card gpuz showed an xt next to rv 770

I was just saying how it doesnt say it anymore when I see gpuz
sorry to confuse ,
I was mearly suggesting that some cards used the one core
and some used others , since I have heard of some versions of 4850 not being able to be ocd very well if at all, and most of the first edition ones will clock to same as 4870 on the core.
In fact I think the 4830 is based on the pro core. I dont work for ATI so I dont really know.

I just love the work they did with 4 series .

The 4850 is a pro and the 4870 is a xt.Its ati's naming scheme,xx50=pro,xx70=xt.

the 4830 is a downclocked 4850 that had one or two blocks of stream processors (one block = 80 i think) fail to work properly, so two blocks are fully disabled and what was once a 4850 becomes a 4830 - this is called harvesting.

Nice guys...
I just got cat 8.12, for some reason my BIOS works right now, and drops to .93, and up to 1.2
I've got 740/1100 Crysis and ATiTool stable - never above 60C in Crysis, and haven't broken 70 in ATiTool. I'm so glad I cleaned out my card. Thats close to a 20c difference in Crysis. Wow!

Sign me up... just bought a 4850 yesterday. Installed it and started overclocking it immediately. Never overclocked a video card before and it took me reading this forum to understand how to properly. So far able to play my games 4 hours last night overclocked and no problems. Will push further tonight.
