Ok so i decided to go with two 4850s instead of dumping 400 on two new cards. Now my card is a visiontek 4850 512mb... im looking at the saphire 4850 which has 1gb... will the full 1g read (as a total of 1.5gb) or will it only see up to 512 to match the other card?

it will act as 512mb.

also note that if you have 2 512mb cards, your PC will act as though it has 512mb of video ram - it doesn't pool together...
